کووید ۱۹ در موارد حاد و در شرایط عفونت بالا می‌تواند منجر به بروز بیماری مخوف سپسیس شود، محققان معتقدند سپسیس یک بیماری مخوف و تهدیدکننده زندگی است که می‌تواند در صورت خارج شدن عفونت، از کنترل رخ دهد.
اولین گزارش جهانی سازمان بهداشت جهانی در مورد سپسیس (sepsis) نشان می‌دهد که تلاش برای مقابله با میلیون‌ها مرگ و معلولیت ناشی از این نوع عفونت به دلیل وجود فاصله جدی کشورها در رابطه با در اختیار داشتن دانش و اطلاعات درمان این بیماری با مشکل روبرو شده است. این شکاف اطلاعاتی به ویژه در کشورهای با درآمد کم و متوسط عواقب وخیمی دارد.
مركز تحقيقات سياستگذاري سلامت دانشگاه علوم پزشکی شیراز در نظر دارد "سومين وبينار بين المللي مطالعات اجتماعي سلامت، با تأكيد بر كوويد 19 و نظام سلامت" را از تاريخ 26 لغايت 27 آذرماه سال جاري برگزار نمايد.
